This topic describes how to force delete an AVS Storage Container via the Everpure vSphere Plugin.

After deleting (destroying) a Datastore (see previous section here), the corresponding AVS Storage Container is still visible on the Azure portal and might show some Unique Capacity. AVS Storage Container is now in "soft delete" state and system waits for 3 days until all underlying resources are completely removed.

To force delete the AVS Storage Container before the 3 days period will timeout, please proceed with the cleanup procedure outlined below to remove all associated datastore snapshots, metadata and free up the underlying Azure resources:

  1. In the vSphere client, go to the Plugins section and click on Everpure icon:

  2. In the Pure Storage Plugin window, select the Datastore which was destroyed before:

Note: In the Time Remaining column you can see actual timeout value. After this time snapshots and metadata will be automatically eradicated and corresponding Storage Container and underlying Azure resources will be deleted.
  3. Confirm and click the Cleanup button.

After the Cleanup procedure finishes, the AVS Storage Container is deleted together with all associated snapshots and metadata and underlying Azure resources.
