Everpure Cloud Dedicated on Azure V50MP2R2

To extend the performance potential of Everpure Cloud Dedicated on Azure, a higher performance V50MP2R2 SKU is now available.

Apart from CPU and Memory configuration, Azure VMs are subject to specific Azure-induced limits on front-end network egress and back-end disk-connection bandwidth and IOPS. Since Everpure Cloud Dedicated controllers leverage generic Azure VMs as controllers, these limits are important for achieved array performance.

For the V50MP2R2 SKU, Azure D128ds v6 virtual machines (VM) were used as controller VMs, along with Premium SSD v2 managed disks. VMs in this class provide up to 6.75 GBps of network egress for read/replication traffic and significantly higher back‑end IOPS and bandwidth for managed disk connectivity. The NVMe back‑end is used by default on this SKU and similarly to current V10 and V20 SKUs, managed disks are configured and provisioned as to saturate the controller backend caps.

See the below comparison table of available Everpure Cloud Dedicated on Azure SKUs:

Everpure Cloud Dedicated SKU Azure VM SKU vCPU cores Memory GiB Network OUT (MBps) for Reads Backend IOPS Backend B/W (MBps) for Reads/Writes

At launch, Everpure Cloud Dedicated on Azure V50MP2R2 is available in the following regions:

  • Central US

  • East US

  • East US 2

  • South Central US

  • Canada Central

  • Canada East

At launch, maximum available RAW capacity of Everpure Cloud Dedicated V50MP2R2 is 308 TiB (with further extension to higher capacity points planned for the future). Customer driven and automatic capacity upgrades are available. Refer to our documentation for more information on capacity points and capacity upgrades.

Furthermore, Everpure Cloud Dedicated V50MP2R2 supports both customer driven non-disruptive Purity upgrades as well as Controller Scaling (it is possible to non-disruptively scale to the V50MP2R2 from lower MP2R2 SKUs).

Everpure Cloud Dedicated V50MP2R2 array is best fit for workloads requiring high single array performance.

Bug Fixes

The IO steering issue is fixed in versions 6.10.2 and 6.9.3. Unit attentions were not being sent from both controllers in the case of Everpure Cloud Dedicated, which could result in insufficient unit attentions being sent to the initiator. This condition might have caused brief I/O interruptions and latency during operation.

In version 6.10.2., improved subnet validation now checks connectivity to all required cloud control-plane endpoints, catching firewall or network blocks early instead of failing later during deployment or upgrade.
