Note:

This functionality is available starting with Purity//FA versions 6.8.7 and higher .

Each array SKU has a predefined number of capacity points to which the array can be expanded to. The capacity points can differ across Purity versions, the list of available capacity points can be found here.

Automatic Capacity Upgrade feature enables customers to automatically increase the total usable capacity when the total used capacity reaches 80% of the total usable capacity. Capacity is increased then by adding an additional one capacity point to the array.

Important: If enabled, the Automatic Capacity Upgrade Service checks for array capacity utilization every 10 minutes.

Without the enabled Automatic Capacity Upgrade, existing array storage capacity needs to be manually increased by utilizing the Customer-Driven Capacity Upgrade feature based on Capacity Points (for more information see this article).

Warning: The process of increasing capacity (adding an additional capacity point) takes several minutes to complete. The average expansion time can be about one hour to complete and depends on the current array utilization and model. During the process of increasing the capacity, array performance may be affected. For customers running workloads very sensitive to latency, Everpure suggests controlling capacity upgrades manually.

Quota

Everpure Cloud Dedicated leverages Azure Managed Disks as the backend storage, the managed disk service comes with a certain quota by default to every subscription per region. Below are the two types of managed disks used per Everpure Cloud Dedicated model SKU:

  • For Everpure Cloud Dedicated R2 models based on Azure Premium SSD v2, Azure offers up to 32 TiB per region per subscription by default, but supports higher capacity by request.

  • For Everpure Cloud Dedicated R1 models based on Azure Ultra SSD, Azure offers up to 32 TiB per region per subscription by default, but supports higher capacity by request.

To request an increase in capacity for either of the above SKU models, request a quota increase or contact Azure Support. For information on how to check or increase your current Azure Managed Disk quota, refer to this guide.
