Problem
How do I connect my Cloudsnap S3 bucket to Everpure Cloud Dedicated array and restore my snapshots?
On Everpure Cloud Dedicated, snapoffload process runs on secondary. In case of HA failover, the process moves from one instance to another.
In case of a controller down scenario, SnapOffload will not work on a single controller. Although pureadm status shows -> Snapoffload working on the primary, existing S3 bucket connections change to "not ready" state and new S3 connections will not work. The error says "offload connection is not ready yet".
Connect
- On the Everpure Cloud Dedicated array GUI navigate to Storage -> Array and select + sign at the Offload Targets section.
- Enter details for the S3 bucket you want to connect and click on Connect:
- After successful connection you will see entry for your new S3 offload target under offload target section.
- Navigate to your new Offload Target: Storage ->Array -> Offload Targets -> YourOffloadTarget, by clicking on the Offload Target name.
- You should be able to successfully see all snapshots that were already uploaded to this S3 bucket:
Restore
- Navigate to your new Offload Target: Storage ->Array -> Offload Targets -> YourOffloadTarget, by clicking on the Offload Target name.
- At the Protection Group Snapshots section you will see list of snapshots available in connected S3 bucket.
- Click on "Get snapshots from offload target" icon
:
- Select which snapshots you want to download from the S3 bucket and click Get:
- Your snapshot will be retrieved and available in Storage -> Protection Groups -> Protection Group Snapshots:
- From here you can copy this snapshot into a new volume and connect to a host.
