This section includes some of the most common tools Pure’s customers have used to migrate VMs. It is not all inclusive of every possible tool. Some customers choose to just migrate the VM’s disks, and recreate the VM in the new hypervisor and attach the migrated disks. Some customers prefer an all in one experience where the VM configuration is also migrated, including the configuration of new network switches at the target hypervisor. Keep in mind that the more tasks the migration tool must perform, the larger the opportunity for failure, and the narrower the scope of VM configurations will be supported.
Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM)
SCVMM - The Convert Virtual Machine wizard included with System Center Virtual Machine Manager can be used to convert VMware VMs to Hyper-V VMs. Update Rollup 2 for VMM 2022 includes enhancements to the converter that is up to 4 times faster. For details on migrating with SCVMM, see Hyper-V on Pure FlashArray - How-To, under Hyper-V Role, on the Pure Support Site.
