ActiveCluster provides synchronous replication between two FlashArray units. Because of the latency required for synchronous replication, ActiveCluster is generally configured in the same data center. In addition, ActiveCluster configurations can serve I/O on the same volume from both arrays, thereby improving performance. ActiveCluster can also be configured as asynchronous.
