Microsoft SQL Server 2022 added new functionality, Transact-SQL snapshot backup, that enables application consistent snapshots without requiring the volume shadow copy service (VSS). This process will work with Backup Module and crash consistent backups. An article will be forthcoming on how to use this feature with FlashArray snapshots.
