Regardless of the generation or operating system used, Hyper-V’s Integration Services package should be installed into the guest OS. The Integration Services allow the VM to communicate with the Hyper-V host and it enables functionality such as allowing the host to perform graceful guest shutdowns, to functional improvements, such as a heartbeat service to check that the VM is running correctly. Integration Services are enabled by checking the Guest services checkbox under Integration Services, as shown in Figure 14.
